The Borno State Government has announced a temporary ban on both vehicular and human movement during this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations as part of efforts to enhance security across the state.
The directive, approved by Governor Babagana Zulum, was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar.
According to the statement, the restriction will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Eid day and will apply to all vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles across the state.
The government explained that the measure is aimed at ensuring a peaceful observance of Eid prayers and safeguarding residents during the festive period.

Residents have been advised to attend Eid prayers at mosques or grounds closest to their residences to reduce movement and support ongoing security arrangements.
However, security personnel, ambulances, fire service officials, and other essential workers carrying valid identification will be exempted from the restriction.
The government also called on residents in all 27 local government areas to cooperate with security agencies and adhere strictly to the directive in the interest of public safety.
Parents and guardians were further urged to caution their children and wards against any behaviour that could disturb public peace during the celebrations.
Governor Zulum also encouraged residents to continue praying for enduring peace and stability in Borno State and across Nigeria.
