The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday paid a visit to his main challenger in the party’s primaries, former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Atiku emerged victorious over Amaechi in the recently concluded ADC presidential primary election.
Before the official declaration of the results, Amaechi had rejected the outcome of the primary, alleging that the process was fraught with irregularities.
Despite the disagreement, Atiku, during his acceptance speech, appealed to Amaechi and other dissatisfied members of the ADC to unite and work with him ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Although details of Thursday’s meeting have not yet been disclosed, as both politicians are yet to brief the media, political observers believe the visit may be part of Atiku’s efforts to secure Amaechi’s support following the contentious primary contest.
