The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has declared Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The party also stepped up efforts to attract members and structures of the Seyi Makinde-led support base and the People’s Democratic Party into its fold ahead of upcoming elections, as it concluded its primary elections and unveiled candidates for both National and State Assembly seats across constituencies in Osun State.

The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Adewale Adebayo, announced that Seyi Makinde was unanimously endorsed across all 332 wards in the state. He described the process as peaceful and a reflection of unity, discipline, and shared purpose within the party.

According to him, the outcome of the primaries shows the party’s confidence in credible leadership and its commitment to moving forward as a united political platform. He added that in politics, unity and consensus can sometimes be stronger than internal divisions when built on trust and common goals.

Formally announcing the endorsement, Adebayo stated that after a smooth primary exercise, the party had adopted Governor Seyi Makinde as its sole presidential aspirant and official candidate for the 2027 elections under the APM platform.

He further noted that the exercise was conducted peacefully across all wards in Osun State without any disruption.

Adebayo also said the party has activated reconciliation efforts to reach out to aggrieved members and keep them aligned with its goals ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.

He concluded by urging members of the PDP and other Nigerians to join the APM, describing the party as a growing platform for strengthening opposition politics and advancing its political agenda.
