Aliko Dangote, a prominent Nigerian entrepreneur, has built a diverse business empire starting with a loan in 1977. He ventured into trading commodities like sugar and rice before recognizing opportunities in manufacturing, including cement, sugar, flour, and now refining. Dangote aimed to address Nigeria’s import dependencies and inefficiencies, which hindered economic growth. His company, Dangote Industries, explored a London Stock Exchange listing for its cement business in 2010 but delayed plans, focusing instead on exports. Currently, Dangote Refinery plans a dual listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and LSE to bolster its capital and global investor base.
