Dalung reveals ADC coalition members took oath at formation stage.

Former Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has revealed that members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition took an oath at the formation of the alliance.

Dalung said the oath was meant to ensure that members remained committed to Nigeria’s interests rather than personal ambitions.

Speaking during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the former minister, who served under late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, claimed that many members of the coalition have now abandoned that commitment.

Although he maintained that the coalition is still in existence, Dalung admitted that it is no longer as strong or united as it was at the beginning.

Reacting to the ongoing controversies within the ADC, he said disagreements were inevitable but expressed disappointment that some members had prioritised personal ambitions over the coalition’s original goals.

“The controversies are expected because when we started the coalition, we all took an oath that it would not be about individuals but about the country, and I have remained committed to that oath,” he said.

“My disappointment is that many of those who took the oath from the beginning have broken it.”

He added that the coalition’s current challenges stem from members placing personal interests above their initial agreement to work collectively.

“The coalition is not dead, but it is no longer as formidable as it was at the start,” Dalung stated.
