Rabiu kwankwaso

Kwankwasiyya Movement denies reports of Kwankwaso’s alleged threat to leave NDC.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has denied reports that its leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, threatened to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, the group said Kwankwaso has no intention of quitting the party over the alleged replacement of candidates.

It dismissed the reports as unfounded rumours, insisting that neither Kwankwaso nor the Kwankwasiyya Movement had expressed any dissatisfaction with the situation.

“Kwankwaso never threatened to leave the NDC. Neither the Kwankwasiyya Movement nor its leader is complaining,” the statement said.

The clarification comes amid claims that the group had threatened to exit the party following the substitution of candidates earlier nominated by its members, allegedly due to a breach of a power-sharing agreement.

The movement maintained that the speculation was baseless, noting that the party primaries were held on May 29 in accordance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines, with winners announced the same day.

According to the statement, party stakeholders had earlier agreed on a consensus arrangement where necessary and collectively submitted candidates without disputes.

It further added that Kwankwaso had not communicated any grievance regarding the matter to the movement or the party leadership.
