Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP militants have set fire to primary and secondary schools in Kautikari village, located in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
The latest attack comes nearly a month after the abduction of students from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba.
According to security sources, the attackers stormed the community at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, marking another assault on a town that has repeatedly come under attack.
A local resident further disclosed that although terrorists had attacked the area months earlier, they did not destroy any private or public property during that incident.
Meanwhile, ASP Nahum Daso, the Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the attack and stated that security personnel successfully repelled the assault.
The source said, “No casualty so far but residents were forced to flee into the bush for safety.”
“The suspected insurgents faced strong resistance from joint security forces, averting further losses. As of now, the area is calm and intensive patrols are ongoing.”
The Zonal Inspector for Local Government and Emirate Affairs in charge of Bama, Chibok, Gwoza, Askira/Uba and Damboa, Samaila Manza, also confirmed the incident, saying details were still sketchy.
This comes amid heightened boko haram and terrorist attacks across several regions and states in the country including; Oyo, Benue, Plateau, Zamfara among others.
