Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed a 47-year-old farmer, Samuel Tsok, in fresh attack launched on Duru-Kamang community in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Residents described the attack as a targeted one against the farmer, who reportedly kept hundreds of livestock. After killing him, the invaders also stole 50 of his cows.

Meanwhile, Berom Youth-Moulders Association (BYM) National Publicity Secretary Rwang Tengwong confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. He said available information showed that Tsok died after gunmen shot him while he tried to check strange footsteps behind his house.

Tengwong also described the incident as another disturbing reminder of the persistent security threats facing peaceful communities in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bassa, and other parts of Plateau State. He said it was intolerable for law-abiding citizens to live in constant fear while criminals continue to unleash violence on communities and destroy their means of livelihood.

In addition, Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Alfred Alabo acknowledged the attack in a brief statement on Saturday. Adding that the command has begun an investigation to track down the attackers and recover the stolen cows.
