The governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State and former Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has urged Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, to provide concrete evidence supporting allegations that funds were diverted from local government allocations through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.
Gwarzo was responding to claims made by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who alleged that local government funds were routed to the former deputy governor via his son.
In a statement issued on Thursday through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo dismissed the allegations as baseless, describing them as false, outrageous, and an attempt to tarnish his long-standing reputation in public service.
He maintained that the claims were products of imagination and lacked any factual backing, insisting that the accusers should produce credible and verifiable proof. He added that repeated media accusations do not amount to evidence.
The NDC governorship candidate further stated that he has consistently upheld transparency, accountability, and the rule of law throughout his public career.
He expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge and urged the public to disregard what he called unfounded allegations.
