The three Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion during a security operation in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been laid to rest.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Bargaja community, where the troops were killed when an IED, allegedly planted by bandits, detonated under their vehicle during the operation.

Reports indicate that the fallen soldiers were on their way to respond to a distress call from residents of Bargaja village after a bandit attack when the explosive device went off.
The incident has left families, colleagues of the deceased soldiers, and residents of the affected communities in deep mourning.
Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir, represented Governor Ahmed Aliyu at the funeral prayer held in honour of the fallen troops.
Speaking during the ceremony at Giginya Barracks in Sokoto, Gobir condoled with the Nigerian Army and families of the deceased soldiers over the loss, while commending their sacrifice.

“They lost their lives in the line of duty, while protecting the lives and property of the community from the threat of criminal elements.
“We pray that Allah forgives them, grants them Aljannatul Firdausi, and gives their families and the military the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” Gobir said.
He also reaffirmed Governor Aliyu’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the fight against insecurity.
“The Sokoto State Government continues to stand with our security personnel in the fight against insurgents and bandits. We will keep providing the necessary support to troops to ensure peace returns to our border communities,” he added.
The deputy governor later visited injured personnel and other victims receiving treatment at a hospital, assuring them of the government’s continued support.
The funeral was attended by government officials, military personnel and relatives of the deceased soldiers.
