The Niger State House of Assembly has debunked reports alleging that it adjourned indefinitely, describing the claims making rounds on social media and some online TV platforms as false and misleading.
The clarification was made by the Speaker of the House, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, during Tuesday’s plenary session, where he emphasized that the Assembly remains active and fully committed to its constitutional duties of lawmaking, oversight, and representation.
Sarkin Daji also dismissed rumours of any disagreement between the legislative and executive arms of government, noting that both continue to maintain a strong and cooperative working relationship based on mutual respect.
According to him, there is no rift between the two arms, adding that any differences, if they arise, would be resolved through established democratic processes.
He further urged journalists and media outlets to verify information through the Assembly’s official communication channels before publication, warning that spreading unverified reports could erode public confidence and weaken democratic institutions.
The Speaker reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and delivering quality service to the people of Niger State.
