Kwankwasiyya Demands Full Disclosure from FG Over PFIPC Controversy

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has urged the Presidency to give a detailed explanation over the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), describing the matter as a major test of transparency and public accountability.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group expressed concern over the unfolding developments, saying the issue has raised serious questions about governance and openness in government.

The movement noted that although the Presidency has insisted that the PFIPC does not exist and has denied any connection to individuals claiming to act on its behalf, reports indicating that over N1 billion was reportedly allocated to an entity with the same or a similar name in the 2026 Appropriation Act demand clarification.

According to the statement, what may have initially appeared to be an isolated case involving one individual has now grown into a broader issue that requires public scrutiny.

The group questioned how an entity allegedly nonexistent could have appeared in the national budget, who was responsible for proposing and approving the allocation, which government offices handled the documentation, and whether any public funds were released or committed.

It also asked how alleged forged official documents could have been used for an extended period without being detected.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement stressed that these concerns go beyond politics and are matters of public accountability that deserve clear and honest answers.

The group recalled that the administration of Bola Tinubu came into office on promises of reform, transparency, and responsible governance, adding that its handling of the PFIPC issue would reflect its commitment to those pledges.

It warned that silence, conflicting explanations, or attempts to avoid responsibility could further erode public trust in government institutions.

The movement also cautioned that the controversy could negatively impact Nigeria’s image internationally, noting that foreign investors closely monitor the credibility and integrity of public institutions.

It argued that uncertainty over the legitimacy of government agencies or official appointments could weaken investor confidence in the country’s governance and business climate.

The group called on the Presidency to make public a comprehensive account of the matter, including the origin of the budget allocation, the administrative procedures involved, and measures being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

It also urged the National Assembly and anti-corruption agencies to carry out an independent investigation into all aspects of the controversy.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Kwankwasiyya Movement insisted that public funds belong to Nigerians and must be managed responsibly, adding that democracy cannot thrive where legitimate questions are ignored or left unanswered.
