The lawmaker representing Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency of Katsina State in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Yusuf Doro, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His defection was formally announced during Thursday’s plenary after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, read a letter notifying the House of the development.
In the letter, dated July 18, 2026, Doro said his decision came after extensive consultations with his constituents and careful reflection on what he believes is the best way to enhance representation and improve service delivery.
According to the lawmaker, joining the PDP would enable him to more effectively advance the interests of the people of Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency while remaining dedicated to his legislative responsibilities in the 10th National Assembly.
Doro also expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the APC for the support he received during his time in the party.
He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality representation and promoting sustainable development for his constituents under his new political platform.
The defection officially took effect on July 18, 2026, in line with the notification submitted to the Speaker of the House.
