The African Democratic Congress, ADC Rivers chapter faction, affiliated with Dumebi Kachikwu (often misidentified as Ibe Kachikwu), has aligned with the Rainbow Coalition formed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a widely circulated video, Samuel Chuku, the ADC Secretary for Ikwerre Local Government Area, stated that their national leadership instructed them to support Wike’s political structure and coalition for the upcoming general election.
During a gathering in Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area, party executives declared their intention to partner with the Rainbow Coalition for the approaching elections.
The group insisted they are the authentic ADC Rivers leaders in the local council and vowed to keep backing the coalition until the Supreme Court resolves the ongoing leadership dispute.
They also warned loyalists of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to stop presenting themselves as official party leaders.
Samuel said, “Our leader, Ibe Kachikwu has directed ADC in Rivers to align with coalition led by Nyesom Wike. We are aware that some persons are parading themselves as ADC leaders in Ikwere local government.
“We are here to tell those people that they are intruders. They want to reap from where they did not sow.
“ADC leadership has directed that we should align with the coalition headed by Wike pending when the Supreme Court will decide who should be the authentic national”.
