The West African Examinations Council has announced the 2026 WAEC results for School Applicants. The board announced the release on Wednesday through a post on its official X handle.
Out of the 1,950,726 candidates that took the exam, 1,200,514 (61.54%) received credits or higher in at least five topics, including English Language and Mathematics.
The body wrote, “UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at http://waec.org and check your results now on http://waecdirect.org.”
Before obtaining their results on the result-checking portal (waecdirect.org), candidates must first generate a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and serial number on the WAEC website (waec.org).
The process typically requires entering the examination number and National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration, along with contact details for OTP verification.
The exam, which ran from April 21 to June 19, 2026, drew over 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria.
While most centers in this cohort used the traditional pen-and-paper format, significantly more schools adopted computer-based testing (CBT) than in previous years.
WAEC had previously promised to release results approximately 45 days after the final paper.

Meanwhile the release of the 2026 WAEC results comes just weeks after the Federal Government announced a hike in examination fees beginning in 2027.
In July, FG approved an increase in registration fees for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), administered by both the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), raising the cost to ₦50,000 per candidate starting in 2027.
The Federal Ministry of Education communicated this approval, which will push the NECO SSCE registration fee up from ₦30,000 to ₦50,000. Under the same directive, the WAEC registration fee will rise from ₦27,000 to match that amount.
While the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) exam is currently underway, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) concluded its Senior School Certificate Examination a few weeks ago.
