Iconic Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken out against the reoccurring violence committed by suspected armed herders in Benue State’s Otukpo Local Government Area.
Previous reports reveal that unprovoked herder invasions have claimed the lives of several Otukpo residents since early 2026.
On Wednesday, the artist visited Otukpo-Nobi, a local community targeted by gunmen on July 12, 2026, in a brutal assault that left at least ten dead and several others injured.
While meeting with residents, the Benue-born star expressed his condolences and called on key leaders to take swift action to stop the relentless attacks.
He argued that the Otukpo violence has reached an intolerable level and urged stakeholders to devise a clear strategy to stop these ruthless criminals from striking again.
He said, “It’s becoming too much now, we can’t pretend anymore. We need to begin planning. It won’t be automatic but there is definitely going to be a solution.
“It’s not going to be one person, we all need to come together and fight it. I came to sympathise with you all. It’s painful”.

2Baba’s appeal comes amid renewed insecurity in Benue State, where communities in Otukpo and surrounding areas have witnessed repeated attacks by suspected armed groups in recent weeks. The violence has claimed several lives, displaced residents and forced many farmers to abandon their farmlands, deepening concerns over security in the state’s southern axis.
The recurring attacks have triggered protests by residents and community leaders, who have repeatedly called on the Federal Government and security agencies to deploy more personnel and adopt lasting measures to curb the bloodshed.
The reoccurring Otukpo violence has also reignited national conversations about the need for stronger intelligence gathering, improved security coordination and long-term solutions to the persistent insecurity affecting Benue communities.
