May D P-Square controversy

May D reacts to Okoye family feud, hints at revealing Square Records experience

Singer May D, a former artiste signed to P-Square’s Square Records label, has reacted to the ongoing controversy involving the Okoye family.

P-Square, made up of twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, co-founded Square Records in 2005, with their elder brother, Jude Okoye, serving as the label’s manager.

The music duo split in 2017 following disagreements over financial and management issues involving Jude and Paul. Following the breakup, Peter launched his solo career as Mr. P, while Paul continued as Rudeboy.

Although the brothers reconciled in November 2021, they parted ways again in 2024 after renewed tensions and legal disputes. Peter had accused Paul and Jude of allegedly diverting the group’s royalties to a company account reportedly linked to Jude and his wife.

The dispute gained fresh attention after Paul criticised Peter amid a public controversy, prompting Peter to accuse his twin brother of repeatedly joining public criticism against him.

Peter later made further allegations against Jude and Paul, leading to widespread reactions from Nigerians and celebrities, many of whom expressed support for him and encouraged fans to stream his music.

Amid the renewed P-Square controversy, May D hinted that he would soon share his own experience with the Okoye family and his time at Square Records.

In a post on his Instagram story on Friday, accompanied by a laughing emoji, the singer wrote, “Mr May D Part 1 coming soon.”

May D joined Square Records in 2011 but exited the label in 2012 after the company cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for his departure.
