The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abia State University, Uturu branch, has declared an indefinite strike at the institution.
The industrial action was announced in a notice issued to members of the union on Tuesday, with the branch citing the need for the implementation of the 2025 agreement between ASUU and the Federal Government, among other demands.
In the notice signed by the branch Chairperson and Secretary, Chidi Mba and Victor Obisike, ASUU directed all academic staff to immediately withdraw their services and comply fully with the union’s directives.
The union also instructed members to suspend participation in all statutory and official meetings of the university, including Senate meetings, Faculty Board meetings and other institutional engagements.
The branch leadership urged members to remain united and committed to collective action as it pursues its demands.
ASUU assured members that they would be informed of any further developments regarding the strike and negotiations with the relevant authorities.
