Ezekiel Dachomo renews appeal to Donald Trump, alleges plot to wipe out Christians in Plateau State

Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations for Barkin Ladi, Ezekiel Dachomo, has renewed his call on Donald Trump to intervene over what he described as the systematic killing of Christians in Plateau State.

Dachomo made the appeal during the mass burial of 22 victims killed in a recent bandit attack on Kawel village in Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos.

The cleric said the killings, including those of church leaders, were not isolated incidents but part of what he described as a deliberate campaign targeting Christian communities in the state.

In a post on X, he urged Trump to act swiftly, warning that further delay could leave rural Christian communities more exposed to continued attacks.

During the burial service, Dachomo described the tragedy as one of the most painful moments of his ministry, lamenting the loss of fathers, mothers, children, and devoted Christians whose lives were cut short.

He called on the international community not to ignore the suffering of affected communities, stressing the need for justice, protection, accountability, and lasting peace.

The cleric also appealed to authorities to strengthen security and safeguard vulnerable communities, while offering prayers for the grieving families and urging them to remain steadfast in faith despite the tragedy.

BACKSTORY…

The latest appeal by Ezekiel Dachomo follows a series of deadly attacks in parts of Plateau State, particularly in communities across Bokkos and Barkin Ladi.

For years, Plateau has witnessed recurring clashes and attacks linked to banditry, communal tensions, and disputes over land and grazing, with many communities suffering heavy casualties and displacement.

Christian leaders in the state have repeatedly raised concerns over what they describe as targeted attacks on predominantly Christian communities, calling for stronger intervention from both the Nigerian government and the international community.

Dachomo has been one of the outspoken voices on the issue, often urging global attention as insecurity in the region continues to claim lives and deepen humanitarian concerns.
