Ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to officially inaugurate the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on October 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Key party figures—including former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, and Dr. Betta Edu—are expected to assume prominent roles within the campaign structure.
Yari, who serves as the Director-General of the campaign council, disclosed details of the upcoming inauguration on Friday after briefing the President on election strategy at the State House, as detailed in a statement released to reporters on Saturday.
Yari said: “The President had approved the proposed campaign timetable; activities would commence with a rally in Kaduna on October 24.”
According to the campaign calendar, official rallies in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, will closely follow the initial launch events.
Ahead of the formal inauguration, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been spearheading grassroots mobilization efforts targeting women across the country, working alongside Dr. Betta Edu—the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Women Mobilization—and other team members.
The strategic initiative aims to broaden support for President Tinubu’s reelection bid through targeted community engagements and national outreach programs.
Furthermore, the campaign apparatus is structured to leverage local networks, town hall interactions, and public forums to educate women nationwide on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0 policy priorities.
The October 14 inauguration is expected to operationalize the campaign council, bringing together party leadership and key stakeholders to map out strategic activities for the 2027 presidential contest.
The formal inauguration will precede the planned October 24 rally in Kaduna, which is slated to mark the official launch of the ruling party’s nationwide campaign tour.

The party’s preparations gained formal shape on August 22, 2026, when the presidency announced the composition of its Presidential Campaign Council, naming Tinubu as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary.
The APC’s preparations are taking place amid a competitive political environment, with opposition figures seeking to challenge Tinubu’s bid for another term. The ruling party will need to present its record in office while organising its nationwide campaign machinery.
