US Deploys More Naval Forces Amid Middle East Tensions With Iran

President Masoud Pezeshkian declared on Tuesday that Iran would not back down amid escalating Middle East Tensions as the United States expands its military footprint in the region.

During a meeting with Pakistan’s army chief, Syed Asim Munir Ahmed, Pezeshkian insisted that Washington must eliminate its pressure, threats, and sanctions prior to any negotiations.

“They constantly publicize in the media that they want to attack Iran to frighten our people,” the leader said. “Our nation has no fear of martyrdom.”

The Pentagon is deploying the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (CSG) alongside the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the region.

Scheduled to arrive by the end of November, the ship and military personnel will afford President Donald Trump expanded options as he evaluates further strikes against Iran following the midterm elections.

An MEU and Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) typically comprise about 4,500 marines and sailors, while the USS Theodore Roosevelt carries approximately 6,000 personnel.

The Roosevelt will mark the third CSG deployed to the region, joining the USS George Washington—which recently replaced the USS Abraham Lincoln—and the USS George H.W. Bush, which arrived in April.

Revolutionary Guards spokesperson Hossein Mohebi pledged that Iran would respond even more forcefully to any further military action, asserting that adversaries cannot gain new victories from the conflict.

Meanwhile, Fars news agency reported IRGC Deputy Commander Mostafa Izadi as stating that U.S. naval forces had repositioned roughly 700 kilometers away to remain outside the range of Iranian missiles amid escalating Middle East Tensions.

Backstory…

Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have made little progress, with Tehran demanding concessions, including the lifting of the US naval blockade and sanctions, before reaching a broader agreement.

Iranian officials have also warned that the country is preparing to respond to any renewed American or Israeli military strikes, while insisting that it will not surrender its enriched uranium stockpile.
