African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has released video footage revealing the faces of individuals who attacked him and his team at Tawakalitu Restaurant in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore described the video as a major breakthrough in a post on his verified X handle, stating that the footage captures the assailants who ambushed his team following his interview on MIDAS FM 90.5.
The human rights activist alleged that the attackers operated from the Ekiti State Government House.
He further claimed that officers of the Ekiti State Police Command covered up the assault and wiped the restaurant’s CCTV footage after seizing the equipment.
Sowore claimed that police and DSS officers confiscated the CCTV recorder and later returned the device with the original footage erased.
“This is a major breakthrough. The video shows their faces clearly. They thought they erased the CCTV but we got another video,” Sowore wrote.
Backstory…
Recall that the Sowore attack occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Tawakalitu Restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti, shortly after the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential aspirant and his entourage attended a radio interview at MIDAS FM.
Sowore alleged that armed men stormed the restaurant, assaulted him and members of his team, and stole their belongings.
Speaking on Channels TV, the AAC presidential candidate said that they beat him like a criminal. He alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration plans to assassinate him, warning that his life remains in grave danger.
“They beat me like a criminal. They came from nowhere, about 20 of them, armed with sticks and bottles. They said they will kill me if I come to Ekiti again,” Sowore said.
