Fayose Unapologetic About Critique on Large Families in Nigeria.
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has refused to apologize for his recent comments about Nigerians having more children than they can afford. In an interview, Fayose expressed concern over economic hardship and criticized individuals, using an example of a Northern security guard with four wives and sixteen children, for contributing to the nation’s challenges by having large families. His remarks were seen as offensive by some Northerners, including Senator Shehu Sani, who called for an apology. However, Fayose clarified that his comments were not targeted at any specific region and emphasized the need to address the country’s population issues. He stated that he has no apology to offer as he did not intend to insult anyone or any region.
