Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately fueling internal crises within the PDP. Mohammed made these remarks during a media briefing following a meeting with the PDP Board of Trustees at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Governor Mohammed expressed his concerns, particularly about the ongoing feud between the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalaye Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and the battle for control of the PDP leadership in the state. He alleged that the APC had orchestrated the unrest by planting moles within the PDP-led state.

“This is the creation of the other side. They want us to be in disarray. It is the creation of the APC that always wants to have moles within us,” Mohammed said. He also pointed out that despite Nyesom Wike’s perceived alignment with the APC, he remains a PDP member who has been effective in his role, highlighting the APC’s lack of competent performers.

Governor Mohammed further stated, “To us, this is a commendation. It shows that the PDP has quality human capital capable of delivering for Nigeria, even if the APC is trying to exploit that for their advantage.”

During the meeting, the governor emphasized the commitment of the PDP governors to resolve internal conflicts within the party. “As Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, we discussed with the major organs of the party, including the National Working Committee (NWC). The governors are united on major issues, and we are committed to bringing every aggrieved entity together,” he said.

He acknowledged that while the party must uphold justice, equity, and respect for its constitution, the governors actively work to reduce division and maintain unity. “In our democracy, we cannot dictate; we must ensure that the NWC, as the party’s major administrative organ, functions correctly.”

The Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, praised Governor Mohammed’s efforts to devise solutions for the party’s ongoing challenges and expressed his readiness to support these initiatives. Wabara also expressed concerns about internal issues within the NWC and the crisis in Rivers State, stating that the BoT plans to engage the warring parties in separate meetings to resolve the lingering conflict.

“The BoT is engaging with the party’s issues in separate meetings to resolve the lingering issue,” Wabara noted, highlighting the party’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to its internal struggles.

Governor Mohammed’s accusations and the ongoing interventions by party leaders underscore the deep divisions within the PDP, as the party grapples with maintaining cohesion amidst external pressures and internal disputes.
