The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew and movement restriction previously imposed on 10 local government areas as part of efforts to facilitate the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers of schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, announced the development, adding that said the decision followed a review of the security situation in the affected areas.
The statement reads, “The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire. Residents can now resume their normal activities.”
Oyelade, also assured residents that the state government would continue to monitor developments closely and work with security agencies to ensure lasting peace and safety.
He reassured the public that security agencies are actively taking measures to crush the current kidnapping wave and prevent future occurrences.
Furthermore, while officials withheld specific details regarding the outcomes of ongoing security operations, the government strictly urged citizens to maintain high vigilance and actively cooperate with law enforcement by supplying actionable intelligence to bolster public safety.
