Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction’s preferred presidential flag bearer in Ebonyi State after the ADC primary across the state’s 171 political wards on Monday.
Meanwhile, Bassey Edogi Imoke, Coordinator of Electoral Matters and Returning Officer, announced the results in Abakaliki. Amaechi polled 6,050 votes to defeat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who received 1,210 votes, while Muhammad Hayatudeen scored 4,840 votes.
Imoke further explained that the ADC conducted the primary through a direct primary system across the state’s 171 political wards.
In addition, he said the party accredited 12,100 delegates, and they participated in the election out of the 12,641 delegates who registered for the exercise.
