He said, “We founded the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the firm principles of progressive politics, consensus democracy, and personal devotion and sacrifice.”

According to Tinubu, the primaries are a test of the party’s cohesion and fortitude. They start with the house of representatives and conclude with the presidential primary on May 25.

The president further said that the APC constitution and the Electoral Act of 2026 were compliant with party officials’ attempts to generate consensus candidates in some places.

He also added that consensus is a commendable solution that might lessen animosity amongst party members.

He said, “I note the impressive progress made in this regard and encourage fellow party members to make the most of this window to ensure a seamless process and a more unified party.”

Additionally, Mr President urged party members to remain peaceful where consensus arrangements fail and direct primaries become necessary.
