The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a powerful National Campaign Council ahead of the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, with Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, appointed as Chairman of the council.
Governor Uba Sani had earlier been named Chairman of the campaign team on April 24, 2026, in preparation for the June 20 governorship election scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The campaign council, unveiled by the APC National Secretariat at Buhari House in Abuja, includes prominent party leaders, governors, ministers, federal lawmakers, and influential political figures from across the country.
According to a document signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, will serve as Vice Chairman of the council.
Other notable members include Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; as well as governors Hope Uzodimma, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Babagana Zulum, Dapo Abiodun, Ahmed Aliyu, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Former governors Kayode Fayemi and Yahaya Bello were also included in the council alongside ministers Dele Alake, Sunday Dare, and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The APC additionally established strategic sub-committees covering Election Planning and Management, Finance and Resource Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Security, and Women and Youth Mobilisation to oversee campaign operations ahead of the election.
The composition of the council reflects the significance the ruling party places on the Ekiti governorship poll and underscores the confidence reposed in Governor Uba Sani’s leadership and mobilisation strength.
