Apple is considering a partnership with Meta on AI

Apple is reportedly considering a partnership with Meta on AI initiatives.

As Apple intensifies its involvement in artificial intelligence, it is seeking collaboration with external partners. During the announcement of Apple Intelligence earlier this month, Apple revealed a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into the updated Siri. Additionally, The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is in discussions with Meta for a similar partnership.

These discussions are not yet finalized and could still fall through. Meta declined to comment, and Apple has not yet responded.

Apple’s AI strategy appears to be practical, focusing on integrating AI features such as writing suggestions and custom emojis into existing products. This pragmatic approach may facilitate AI adoption and allow Apple to expand its capabilities through partnerships, reducing dependence on a single partner while validating Meta’s AI technology. Apple is not offering financial compensation for these collaborations; instead, it provides distribution opportunities for AI partners, who can then sell premium.
