The Trump-led administration is not playing games with foreigners who think they can fly into America, give birth to children, and collect US citizenship on a silver platter.
On Wednesday, June 10, the US Department of State dropped a bombshell, revealing that American embassies and consulates scattered across different regions have been busy dismantling organised networks dedicated to so-called “birth tourism.”
According to the State Department, these networks have been running a well-oiled machine, complete with fake documents, visa facilitators, and coaching services, all designed to help pregnant women beat the system and secure American citizenship for their unborn children.
Make no mistake, Uncle Sam is saying enough is enough.
“Under President Trump, the State Department is defending the integrity of U.S. citizenship by ending illegal birth tourism schemes,” the department fired back. “No foreigner is permitted to obtain a visitor visa for the primary purpose of acquiring U.S. citizenship for a child by giving birth in the U.S.”
The crackdown is already yielding results. Sources confirmed that a US embassy right here in West Africa recently uncovered and broke up a network involving more than 100 foreign nationals. Investigators say this group was neck-deep in forged paperwork and visa brokers just to gain entry into America.
And the hammer has fallen hard. Visas tied to the operation have been cancelled, and local authorities are working hand-in-glove with American officials to smoke out similar rackets hiding in the shadows.
The State Department made it clear that consular officers are now operating with backup from law enforcement agencies, using data analysis tools to spot suspicious travel patterns and organized networks before they can strike.
For those already holding visas who think they can bend the rules, the message is simple: your visa can be revoked, and you may never set foot in America again.
“A U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right,” the authorities warned. “The State Department is taking action around the world to stop this abuse, dismantle birth tourism networks, and hold accountable those who try to scam our system.”
So if you or anyone you know was planning to use the “born in America” shortcut, you might want to rethink that strategy. The door is closing, and Trump is holding the key.
