Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has congratulated the South-East following the cancellation of the sit-at-home order in the region.

In a post shared on his verified X account on Sunday, Ahmad described the development as a major relief for residents of the South-East.
For several years, the region had observed a sit-at-home order every Monday.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has now announced the complete and permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home across the South-East, stating that the decision takes immediate effect from Monday, February 9, 2026.

Reacting, Bashir Ahmad said, “So I read that Nnamdi Kanu, a convicted terrorist, has ordered the permanent cancellation of the sit-at-home in the South-East.
“This is to congratulate many innocent people who have suffered quietly under the impact of the illegal order and could not openly speak against it.”
