Troops involved in Operation Safe Haven have destroyed suspected terrorist hideouts and recovered weapons during a combat patrol in Yankari Forest and surrounding areas of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State.

The development was disclosed by counter-insurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama in a post on X.
He stated that the operation, conducted around 5:30 p.m. on March 20, involved troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade and formed part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements from the region.
Makama added that the troops carried out a thorough sweep of the forest, uncovering multiple hideouts and staging areas reportedly used by suspected terrorists.

“During the operation, troops successfully destroyed the identified hideouts and neutralised the threat within the general area,” he said.
He added that items recovered during the operation included two dane guns.
Makama noted that the operation was aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring security in the forested areas of the Bauchi state.
