Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has appeared at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna for the continuation of his ongoing corruption trial.
El-Rufai arrived at the court in the company of officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alongside operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.
He is facing charges bordering on alleged abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct during his tenure as governor.
Prosecutors allege that public funds were unlawfully released for projects that were either not executed or were poorly managed.
However, El-Rufai has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining that he is innocent of the charges.
At Monday’s hearing, the court is expected to continue with motions and arguments from both the prosecution and defence as proceedings progress.
