In the notice, she is asking for N2 billion in damages over claims that the commission made false and harmful statements about her.
The request was included in a letter submitted by her lawyers after an ICPC press statement called “Clarification on the Access Control Protocol at ICPC Headquarters, Abuja” was published on May 18, 2026.
According to the notice, ICPC spokeswoman Okor Odey’s statement contained numerous errors, according to Mrs. El-Rufai’s attorneys.
She also asserted that Odey made untrue claims that gravely harmed her reputation.
They contended that this language called into question her status as the former governor’s lawful wife.
Additionally, they contended that the commission’s declaration labelling her prior assertions as “false and misleading” damaged her public image by making her appear dishonest and deceptive.
Meanwhile, the attorneys refuted the allegations that she violated visitation regulations at the commission’s headquarters, claiming that these charges gave the impression that she disregarded the organization’s established protocols.
Also, the notice highlighted portions of the statement that, according to the legal team, suggested Mrs. El-Rufai had been inconsistent in her claim that her husband was denied food while in custody.
