On Wednesday, protestors and activists invaded MTN Nigeria’s Abuja headquarters due to the exorbitant cost of service.
Protesters, led by Omoyele Sowore, chanted “MTN Ole!” as they marched.
They also demanded immediate action over what they described as exploitative pricing by the telecom company.
A protester said, “We demand that MTN immediately stop all the exorbitant charges, we need quality service in the country.
“Last week, someone complained that he paid a huge amount of money but he was not given the data. That’s the story of many Nigerians.”
This comes following a statement by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Wednesday that it will picket MTN and MultiChoice, two South African companies, in protest against ongoing xenophobic attacks.
Recall that senator Adams Oshiomhole previously called for retaliatory actions against South African businesses operating in Nigeria over recent attacks on Nigerians in the foreign country

The Nigerian consulate in Johannesburg, South Africa had earlier verified the death of two Nigerians identified as Amaramiro Emmanuel and Ekpenyong Andrew, following rising xenophobic tensions.
NAN reported that the consul-general, Ninikanwa Okey-Uche, said in a statement on Monday that Emmanuel dies from injuries he sustained following an assaut on April 20 by members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
On April 4, Nigerians awoke to commotion when South Africans protested over the early March coronation of Solomon Eziko. A Nigerian Igbo chief, by taking to the streets of Albany and Buffalo under KuGombo, often known as East London.
Meanwhile, NIDCOM in response, warned Nigerians to avoid crowded areas, steer clear of protest groups, and monitor local media for updates on security conditions.
