Edun submits minimum wage report to Tinubu, assures workers of “good figure.
Barring any last-minute hitches, the federal government and labor unions are set to unveil a new minimum wage following Thursday’s report presentation.
Wale Edun, Minister of Finance, submitted the report, which includes cost implications, to President Tinubu at noon. Edun, accompanied by Minister of Budget Atiku Bagudu, left the President’s office around 12:45 PM, assuring no cause for alarm and urging Nigerians to “expect a good figure.”
The team then moved to the Tripartite Committee meeting on Minimum Wage to unveil the new figure. President Tinubu had given Edun a 48-hour deadline to finalize the cost implications. The organized labor had called off its strike on Tuesday to allow for this process.
