Globacom Announces New Data Pricing Structure In Line with NCC-Approved 50% Tariff.
Nigeria’s indigenous telecommunications giant, Globacom, has announced the change in their data prices reflecting the 50% tariff increment approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The new data price plans have been published and updated on the GLO’s website.

Earlier in January 2025, NCC approved a 50% tariff increment for all telecom providers who were initially requesting a 100% increase to battle the rising costs of inflation, FX, and production.
However, the Nigeria Labour Congress opposed the move and threatened to go on a strike should the 50% increase be approved. They eventually discarded the notion as Nigerians have accepted their fate with the increase.
MTN was one of the first telecom providers to increase their data prices. The one affected was the consumers’ favorite, 15GB for N2000, now increased to N6000 or 7GB for N3000.
After their increase, consumers started accusing MTN of unreasonable data consumption despite the increase. The telecom provider refuted the allegations levied against them and said the cause of high data consumption was due to the shift from 3G to 5G and also the new social media videos and reels addiction.
Meanwhile, in a bid to compensate for the data increase, Globacom has introduced a new 200% data value back offer on every MiFi device bought at Gloworld outlets across Nigeria.
