Kwara Assembly calls for investigation into IBEDC over alleged poor services and questionable practices.
The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the state Ministry of Energy to investigate complaints of poor service delivery against the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and address the company’s staff’s extortionist tendencies.
The resolution, passed on Tuesday, aims to give Kwarans a platform to voice their concerns and engage with IBEDC management.
The House also called on IBEDC to provide reliable prepaid meters and cease estimated billings. Additionally, the House directed its energy committee to engage with IBEDC management to address billing issues and improve service delivery.
Ganiyu Folabi Salau, leading the debate, expressed concern over recent frequent blackouts despite Kwarans’ silence on the poor metering system and IBEDC’s practices.
