Surprise Cut! Dangote Drops Fuel Price to N890/Litre
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has decreased the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, from N950 to N890, effective Saturday.
This information was released in a statement from the company’s chief branding and communications officer, Anthony Chiejina, on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

The statement indicates that the price change is in reaction to positive trends in the global energy sector and a notable drop in international crude oil prices.
“This strategic change is a direct reflection of the favorable outlook in the global energy and gas industries, along with the recent decrease in international crude oil prices,” the statement notes.
“In line with Dangote Refinery’s steadfast commitment to transparency and equity, this price adjustment mirrors the ongoing variations in global crude oil markets, as mentioned in the refinery’s announcement on January 19, when a slight increase was made due to the earlier rise in international crude oil prices.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery strongly believes that this reduction from N950 to N890 will lead to a significant decrease in the petrol costs across the country, subsequently lowering the prices of goods and services and the overall cost of living, with a beneficial ripple effect across multiple sectors of the economy.”
The refinery urged oil marketers to work together to ensure that these benefits reach Nigerians.
Dangote Refinery emphasized that this collective effort will support the broader economic recovery initiative led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
