Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has increased the price of its premium+ subscription by 51% in Nigeria. The price increases from N22,550 to N34,000 per month.
However, this price increase comes with added features, such as ad removal, easy access to new features such as Radar, and higher limits on our most cutting-edge Grok AI models, ensuring they are always ahead of the curve.
The company stated, “Increased pricing allows us to invest more into making Premium+ better and better over time.
“If you’re an existing subscriber and your next billing cycle starts before January 20, 2025, you’ll be charged at your current rate; otherwise, the new rate will begin with your first billing cycle after that date. See pricing information in the table below.
“Prices may vary by location, applicable taxes, and your payment method’s fees. For any questions, please message X Premium.”
According to reports, Nigeria is not the only country being affected by the price increase, as it seems to have been done globally. The Premium+ was increased from $16 to $22 in the US, which represents a 37.5% increment.
The prices moved from €16 monthly to €21 in Europe, while Canada will see Premium+ rates climb to $29 from $20, a 45% increment.
Elon Musk’s X equally emphasized that although there’s a general increase, it still varies by location and tax. It stated, “If you’re an existing subscriber and your next billing cycle starts before January 20, 2025, you’ll be charged at your current rate; otherwise, the new rate will begin with your first billing cycle after that date. Also worthy to note is that there are no price changes for Premium subscriptions.
