Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, together with Vice President Kashim Shettima, have landed at Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri to attend Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s swearing-in for a second term.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, along with Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, is scheduled to be officially sworn in on Tuesday.
The main inauguration ceremony will be held at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, following a series of pre-inauguration events.
The program began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, which celebrated the end of Soludo’s first tenure and sought divine blessings for the new term.
A thanksgiving mass is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral.
Security has been beefed up across the state, with law enforcement agents deployed to ensure a smooth event.
