Court Releases Yahaya Bello On N500m Bail, Trial Fixed
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today, Friday, granted bail to the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for N500M with two sureties in the like sum.
In the ruling delivered by the trial Justices Nwite Emeka, the court held that the sureties must be owners of landed properties in Abuja.
The Justics Emeka said aside directing the sureties to tender the title documents of the properties, which must be verified by the Deputy Chief Register of the court, Justices Emeka also ordered them to swear an affidavit of means.
Aside from directing the sureties to tender the title documents of the properties, which must be verified by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court, Justice Nwite equally ordered them to swear to an affidavit of means, further more ordered the Yahaya Bello to surrender his international passport and not travel outside the country without permission.
The court held that the defendant should remain at Kuje prison, pending the perfection of the bail conditions.
