23 Anambra Drug Convicts to Die Abroad – Soludo Warns.
Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has revealed that there are currently 23 citizens of the state awaiting execution in Indonesia for drug-related crimes.
Soludo made this statement on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, when he was addressing a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) clan members who defected to All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to support his re-election bid.

According to him, fake native doctors mislead young people who think the charms that are planted by these native doctors give them the ability to pass security screening while smuggling the drugs.
“Go and check in Indonesia; 23 Ndi Anambra are on death row there for drug-related offences,” he said.
“Such native doctors will tell you they will prepare a charm that when you carry drugs and enter the airport, the white man’s scanner will go blind.
“And these young ones believe them, and today many of our people are languishing in jails all over the world.” Soludo cautioned that those who keep deceiving people will be arrested; many of the so-called native doctors could not even help themselves using such powers.
“One of the native doctors who is in detention, his son is a waiter in a hotel in Nnewi. If it was that simple, why didn’t he make his son a millionaire?”
“Another one we arrested described himself as a content creator, he used this to deceive our youth that they can get rich without working, so long as they did okwe Ite (money rituals).”
According to the Governor, such ideas were corrupting the mentality of youths in the state.

“That is why you see young people who wake up in the morning and retire to beer parlours drinking, hoping to get rich later in life.”
Emphasizing that the state does not oppose traditional religion, he asserted that people must be put down who practice dangerous things under the guise of spirituality.
“We are not against traditional worshippers; what we are against is people who are doing dangerous medicines and charms.
“We have always known those who are into traditional practices, they have things they believe in, and they were about the most upright people then.

“Those were people who believed that if you did the wrong thing, you could be killed by the gods of the land. But what this new crop of criminal native doctors are doing is deceit, and we will not allow that to continue.”
He promised to continue the clampdown on advocates of Oke ite and other get-rich-quick schemes in his government.
