Royal Scandal! Ogun Monarch Faces Charges for Assault
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has filed charges in court against the suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, for the assault and molestation of an aged man, Areola Abraham.
This information was disclosed in a statement by Muyiwa Adejobi Force PRO on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

“The Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi who assaulted one elderly man in the viral video in Ifo Ogun State has today, 4th February 2025, been charged to court on three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace,” reads the statement.
Following the emergence of the viral video showing Ogunjobi verbally and physically assaulting Areola, indignation spread.
In that video, some of Ogunjobi’s men slapped the old man and forced him to kneel and prostrate.

The Ogun State Government then suspended the monarch for six months, saying this is in order to preserve human dignity and the respect of the traditional institution. His conduct was described as barbaric, scarcely in keeping with the station of an Oba.
This was contained in a statement signed on Monday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade.

The suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo had earlier been interrogated by the Ogun Police Command.
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer Ogun State Police Command, spoke on the issue and condemned in its entirety any assault or harassment and violence that may have occurred irrespective of the parties concerned.

CSP Odutola said the command will ensure justice is done in this case.
