Nigerian Migrant Torturer ‘Rambo’ Dies by Suicide in Italian Jail
John Ogais, a notorious Nigerian human trafficker known as “Rambo,” committed suicide in an Italian prison after attacking and injuring four wardens on September 16, 2024. Ogais was arrested in 2017 in Italy, accused of leading a trafficking ring that brought migrants from Libya to Italy and subjected them to horrific torture, rape, and murder.
Witnesses testified that Ogais killed multiple Nigerian migrants, including a minor who was executed in front of his brother. Survivors described being tortured with electric shocks and beaten with rubber tubes. Ogais was arrested at the Cara ‘Santa’Anna’ shelter in Calabria, Italy, after being identified by migrants who arrived on the island of Lampedusa.
