The Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, has disassociated himself from any alleged plot to tarnish the reputation of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.
In a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Abubakar Balarabe Kofar Naisa, Dan Agundi revealed that some individuals had approached him to join a smear campaign against Senator Barau following the Senate’s suspension of the screening of Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat, the nominee for Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
He stated that he declined to participate, describing the move as a calculated attempt to malign the senator’s image.
Dan Agundi cautioned those behind the scheme to desist or risk being publicly exposed.
He further stressed that he does not engage in insults or personal attacks, even in politics, noting that Senator Barau is a respected leader who should not be unjustly accused.
The statement added, “Baffa Babba Dan Agundi vowed to reveal the identities of those who approached him to join the smear campaign against Senator Barau Jibrin if they persist in their attempts to discredit the ranking senator.”
He also clarified that, based on the information available to him, Senator Barau had no role in the delay of Engineer Ramat’s screening.
