Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries to strengthen the state’s civil service.
The appointments were disclosed on Friday in a statement by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Iskeel Saka, who explained that the move was necessary to fill vacancies created by the retirement of former Permanent Secretaries.
According to the statement, the newly appointed officials are Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi, Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi, Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo, Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida, and Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele.
Saka stated that the appointments were made in accordance with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution after a careful review of merit, professionalism, and inclusiveness.
He noted that all six appointees had successfully undergone the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a compulsory requirement for individuals seeking top leadership positions in the state’s public service, including the role of Permanent Secretary.
According to him, the appointments underline Governor Abiodun’s dedication to building a more efficient, responsive, and performance-driven civil service.
The Head of Service further charged the new Permanent Secretaries to uphold high standards of leadership, integrity, commitment, and selfless service in the discharge of their duties.
He added that the appointees are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing reforms in the Ogun State civil service and improve service delivery for residents.
Governor Abiodun is expected to officially inaugurate the new Permanent Secretaries on a date to be announced later.
The appointment of new Permanent Secretaries follows the retirement of several senior officials in the Ogun State Civil Service, creating vacancies in key administrative positions. Permanent Secretaries play a crucial role in overseeing government ministries and ensuring the implementation of policies and programmes. In recent years, the Ogun State government under Dapo Abiodun has emphasized reforms aimed at strengthening the public service through merit-based appointments, leadership development, and improved service delivery. The latest appointments are seen as part of efforts to sustain efficiency and continuity in governance across the state.
