Nigerian music star, Davido, has revealed that he is taking an indefinite break from making music.
Speaking during a recent livestream with Davrel, the award-winning singer told fans not to expect new songs from him anytime soon, explaining that he is currently on a sabbatical.
According to Davido, he doesn’t feel pressured to constantly release music to stay relevant, noting that many of his hit songs are still dominating playlists in clubs.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he said.
The singer also praised the growing celebrity boxing scene in Nigeria, describing the tournament as a positive development.
Davido’s comment comes shortly after popular streamer Carter Efe defeated controversial singer Portable to become the new champion of the Nigerian celebrity boxing tournament.
Following his loss, Portable alleged that several people in the music industry do not support him, claiming that many secretly dislike him.
