Nigerian music star Davido (David Adeleke) has said that holding a government position would not stop him from continuing his music career.
During a recent livestream with Davrel, the singer stated that even if he eventually takes up a political or government role, he would still remain active as an artiste.
He pointed out that former Haitian president Michel Martelly also continued performing music while in office, noting that public service does not necessarily end a creative career.

Davido said:
“If I ever decide to work in government, I would still be performing. I don’t think that stops anything.
“Of course, it won’t be as much as before. Michel Martelly was a musician while he was president of Haiti, and he still performed. He even went on tours during his presidential vacations.”
The singer also revealed that he is no longer strongly interested in pursuing politics, saying his observations of celebrities who have transitioned into political roles have made him more cautious.
According to him, many Nigerian entertainers who moved into politics have not achieved notable success, which has influenced his current mindset.
Davido added that while he was once curious about politics, his perspective has changed after seeing how things operate in reality.
