Rufai Oseni, an anchor on Arise Television’s Morning Show, has said he will closely scrutinize the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and its likely presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, Rufai Oseni stressed that the party must clearly outline its policies and direction for Nigerians within a few days, noting that political momentum alone is not enough.
He said the NDC must present a clear ideology and manifesto, especially as it prepares to choose its presidential flagbearer, adding that he would assess the party based on the strength and clarity of its proposals.
Rufai Oseni also disclosed plans to interview Peter Obi, stating that the former Anambra State governor must provide detailed policy positions on key national issues.
According to Rufai Oseni:
“The only challenge I see is on the NDC now to be able to tell us what they’re going to do for the Nigerian people, and that’s what I’m going to scrutinize them based on.
“They need to come up with a strong manifesto. As they prepare to pick their presidential candidate, they must clearly state what they intend to do for Nigerians.
“Yes, there is momentum and defections, but it is not just about numbers. I have not verified claims of mass registration, and I don’t comment on what I cannot confirm.
“What I want to see is a concrete and rigorous plan. These are the questions I will put to Mr. Peter Obi when I interview him. He must present detailed solutions because Nigeria is facing serious challenges.
“What are their plans for forex? Subsidy? Foreign exchange stability? Social welfare? These are the issues Nigerians need answers to.
“If I don’t see clear plans in the next few days, I will be their strongest critic.
“This is the time to show governance direction. We cannot build a nation on empty promises.
“We will demand accountability from the NDC and from Mr. Peter Obi. Nigerians deserve clarity on what they are being offered.”
Rufai Oseni further emphasized that any political platform seeking public trust must demonstrate transparency, policy depth, and actionable solutions to national problems.
